Alabama Rot (CRGV) Information

December 29, 2017 | by kate.allen@hooknortonvets.co.uk | Pets

As another case of Alabama Rot, also known as Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy (CRGV), is confirmed in the UK, we would like to give you access to some information on it so that you can remain vigilant.

It is potentially fatal and was first diagnosed in the UK in 2012. It is rare, with just over 100 dogs diagnosed with the disease since then. However, it is spreading and sadly only 20-30% of dogs survive it once it has spread to the kidneys.

The team at Anderson Moores Veterinary have put together an excellent overview of the disease and how to spot it, which you can read here.

If you have any questions or are concerned about any aspect of your dog’s health, please do not hesitate to contact our Small Animal team. Our vets are always on hand to offer expert advice.
